My Treatments...

I qualified in Aromatherapy and reflexology and opened my practise in 1989.

The treatment I offer takes approx 1hr 15.

After dowsing on the chakras, I mix aromatherapy oils according to my clients needs and use them  for reflexology,  shoulder, face and Indian Head massage, finishing off with reiki ( during this time I can offer a soothing meditation if appropriate).

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a holistic healing treatment that uses natural plant extracts to promote health and well-being. Sometimes it’s called essential oil therapy. Aromatherapy uses aromatic essential oils medicinally to improve the health of the body, mind, and spirit. It enhances both physical and emotional health.

The oils can be used  by inhalation or adding a few drops to a bath or massaged on the body using a carrier oil.

Reflexology

Reflexology is based on the premise that energy channels run through the body. The efficacy of the therapy is the result of the stimulation of this energy flow. Reflexology treats each individual as an entirety of body mind and spirit. It does not treat symptomatically, but instead works with the whole person. The aim is to restore the person into a state of balance.

 

During a reflexology treatment, areas of imbalance can be identified in the feet. Specific techniques are used to apply pressure to the feet which allows energy to circulate around the body. Reflexology is used to balance the body's natural equilibrium so that restoration and repair can takes place.

 

I choose essential oils relevant to my clients needs and mixed in a base oil apply to the feet to enhance the reflexology treatment. Although I have been using this protocol for over 30 years it has recently be named ‘Aromaflexology’!

Indian Head Massage

Indian head massage, also known as champissage, is a treatment that focuses on massaging acupressure points along the head, neck, and shoulders, often using circular massage strokes to improve hair and scalp condition.

It originates from an Indian alternative medicine system called Ayurveda, (translated as the ‘science of life’), whereby it is believed that the mind and body are intricately connected and thus can influence one another. Through this theory, is is understood that Indian head massage can not only reduce headaches and improve physical well-being, but it can also improve mental and emotional wellness too.

Pilates

Pilates is a form of exercise which concentrates on strengthening the body with an emphasis on core strength. This helps to improve general fitness and overall well-being.

Similar to Yoga, Pilates concentrates on posture, balance and flexibility. In Pilates the chance of injury is much lower than with other more strenuous forms of exercise.

Pilates also focuses on the mind-body connection. While doing the various exercises your mind needs to be constantly aware of your breathing and the way your body moves.

This form of exercise was developed by Joseph Pilates in Germany where he was a carpenter and gymnast. He invented Pilates as an exercise program for injured dancers and soldiers while living in the UK. Joseph Pilates believed that physical and mental health were closely connected. In the 1920's he immigrated to the US and opened a Pilates studio in New York. Originally this form of exercise was called Contrology.

Meditation

Take time out to breathe, rest and reset. Just a minute of conscious breathing helps to clear cortisol ( the stress hormone) from your bloodstream. Meditation helps to reduce stress and anxiety, lower blood pressure and improve memory and mood.

A meditation can be part of the treatment if desired.

Nutrition

Nothing affects us more than what we choose to eat at least three to four times a day, every day!

I always think  the word ‘diet’ puts us into a negative and restrictive state of mind and as soon as we aren’t supposed to have something it becomes more desirable! Once we understand how the body works and how it reacts to the food we eat …… we can make the right food choices.

 

 In fact….if man made it….don’t eat it!
